A
Gathering of Eagles
February 27 - Just like the eagles gathering around Beaver Lake
in Northwest Arkansas every year, aviation students and enthusiasts will
gather at NorthWest Arkansas Community College for the annual Gathering
of Eagles dinner and festivities. Mark your calendars for Saturday
night, the 13th of March, at 6:00 PM, in the Shewmaker Center
at the college campus in Bentonville.
The annual event is a chance for aviation students,
instructors, and community partners to enjoy an evening of camaraderie.
The event will feature a social hour, meal, award presentations, and a
guest speaker. This year, Captain Bruce Cheever, Vice President for
Flight Operations at Federal Express, will share his experiences, and
vision for the future of aviation. Captain Cheever was formerly a
Production Test Pilot for McDonnell Douglas, and served his country as a
fighter pilot in the Marines, retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps as a
Lt. Colonel in 1990. FedEx currently operates over 600 aircraft, employs
4,200 pilots, and has flight operations into over 250 cities worldwide.
Although NWACC sponsors the dinner, it’s not just
for students, faculty and staff. Aviation Department Director, Dave
Bowman invites anyone with an interest in aviation to join in the
activities. “If you would like to hear Bruce Cheever, enjoy excellent
food, rub shoulders with other aviators, this night is for you!”, Bowman
stated. Local members of the Civil Air Patrol, Experimental Aircraft
Association, aviation museums, and members of the aviation industry are
invited as well.
Tickets for the evening are $20.00 each and must be
purchased in advance. Please mail your check to: NWACC
Aviation-Gathering of Eagles, One College Drive, Bentonville, AR 72712.
Payment must be received no later than March 5, 2004. If you have
questions, call Kim at 479-619-4159.
