AOPA Reports KY's Governor wants Their TFR/ADIZ

Dec 10 - KENTUCKY LAWMAKER THREATENS STATE'S AIRSPACE
Don't think an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) could be imposed outside of Washington, D.C.? Well, former Kentucky governor and current state Sen. Julian Carroll is sponsoring a resolution, requesting the FAA to examine flight paths to Frankfort's Capital City Airport and to restrict air traffic around the grounds of the state's Capitol. Carroll was interviewed recently by a Frankfort radio station about the resolution and said he believes that restricting the airspace is a homeland security issue because terrorists may consider acts outside major cities. Listen online. AOPA Southeastern Regional Representative Bob Minter is marshalling forces to defeat the resolution when the legislature reconvenes January 3.  www.aopa.org

HELLO!  Anyone listening???

Throttle Forward

November 27 - In the December Throttle Forward, a column that allows me to rant and rave, this issue is a bit more somber.  The instructor that taught me to fly, a gentleman who became as close as a brother to me, went west this month.  Arnie Sims and I went through many hard times together.  I will miss him.  To learn more about Arnie go to this page...

Ralph McCormick, Publisher

Double "V"

November 18 - August 29th of 1997, Steve Cowell purchased a semi-raggedy North American T-6 from a pilot in Blue Earth, Minnesota.  That plane had fake bombs hanging off the wings and a typical older paint scheme.  Having driven a couple of hours to Blue Earth from Minneapolis, where he had been on a job related business produced this less than lovable NA T-6.   MORE...
