August 24 - Once again

Thunderbird Incident @ Chicago Air Show
August 22 - On
Saturday a part fell of of a Thunderbird performing at the air show in
Chicago. On Sunday, two of the jets touched wings during a fly-by at
the end of the performance.

Chicago Air Show Sees Part Fall
August 21 - The
air show at Chicago (IL) had some small excitement over the weekend. It
appears that a part may have fallen off of one of the Thunderbirds while
it was performing. WLS Channel Seven TV in Chicago reported that over a
million people attended the event.

September 10, 1955, John Wayne introduced a new show to TV watchers
across the nation and young James Arness starring as Matt Dillon not
only stepped into stardom, but into our collective national living room.
That "show" would continue for the next twenty years and it would be

Estimated attendance: Approximately 700,000 (increase of nearly 7

member Harrison Ford will serve as EAA Young Eagles program chairman for

July 26 - For the first month
ever, Fly-Low Publication hard copy has gone 50 states in coverage. A
first of which we are proud and we'll give you more information at a
later date. In less that five years, the issue has moved from one state
to fifty. We're proud and just wanted to pass the information on to you

Saturday was killed. He died at about 0100 CDT from massive head
injuries.

July 23 - Will it ever stop?
There is a new regulation recently released and reported by AOPA. A few
bad apples around Washington D. C. has complicated the aviation
environment for the other 500,000 pilots. And what was it you said
about those who are renting Ryder and U-Haul trucks in and around D.
C.? They weren't affected by the ruling..

Oshkosh Waypoint
July 21 - For the fifth
consecutive year, employees at Columbia AFSS, Columbia Regional
Airport Board, and Central Missouri Aviation (fixed-base operator, FBO)
are sponsoring Columbia as a Way- point stopover for pilots traveling
to the EAA Air Adventure at OSHKOSH, Wisconsin from July 23rd and
24th. Columbia is centrally located and has a FAA contract tower that
operates between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Aviators Fly To Fayetteville
July
19 - Monday July 18th was a sad day in Arkansas and the United States.
Fayetteville-Springdale the home of Bobby Younkin saw aviators fly in
from all parts of this country to honor one of their own. A large crowd
attended the funeral and reception at the Arkansas Air Museum located on
Drake Field. Aviation has lost two of it's best performers..... Jimmy

State Convention A Success
July 16 -
What an unbelievable day we had on June 11, 2005 at the 51st Annual
Missouri Pilots Association State Convention held at the Neosho Missouri
Airport. 126 “Young Eagles” were flown during the day’s events at the
convention despite the wind and weather delay.

Ercoupes Meet In Minden

July 6 - The
date was June 9, 2005. The wind was blowing at 20 knots, typical of
early summer in Nebraska. Undaunted by the wind and towering
cumulonimbus clouds, pilots flying Ercoupes began arriving at Minden,
Nebraska from Pennsylvania to the east, Idaho to the west, Georgia to
the south, and points in between.

June 30 - The City
of Siloam Springs is hosting a Fly-In at the Siloam
Springs Airport (KSLG) on July 4th. Skydivers from
SkyRanch will be hosting a pilot's breakfast from 7am to
10am. That weekend is filled with several skydive
demo jumps in Cassville, MO, Muskogee, OK, and around

Air Safety Foundation recently published its 2004 Nall
Report, an annual comprehensive compilation of general
aviation (GA) accident statistics. The latest
edition reveals an overall increase in GA accidents for
2003 as compared to 2002, but a continued downward trend
in the accident rate.

ICAS Sends T-6 Warning
June 10 - On Wednesday, June 8, the FAA issued an
Emergency Airworthiness Directive #2005-12-51 mandating
that all North American AT-6/SNJ-type aircraft undergo
immediate and repetitive inspections of the inboard and
outboard, upper and lower wing attach angles of both wings
for fatigue cracks.

New "Bible" Released
June 3 - Sparky Imeson, one of America’s
best known writers on mountain flying has just released a
“Revised” version of his famous “Mountain Flying
Bible”. The book is now in bookstores.
As usual this book contains worlds of information on
flying the mountains and with Sparky’s normal writing
technique, the book contains good information on how to
fly safely at any altitude.

June 2 – Many
writers feel that a long written story is the ultimate.
It is hard sometimes as publisher to explain to them that
a five-hundred word story can be interesting and
effective. I decided to check on a couple of well
written words. Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, one of
the best known outstanding monologues, was only
two-hundred thirty-five words and in Throttle Forward
I quote Pastor Martin Niemoller. His eighty-seven
words ring today as they did in the 1940s. These
eighty-seven words will never last that long.

Biplane Expo 2005
June 1 - The
19th Biplane Expo will be June 3rd &
4th in Bartlesville, OK. The Biplane Expo
is no small event. There will be around 140 biplanes
and somewhere near 300 non-biplanes who fly to the
