February 28 - Will Rogers was one of America's jewels.  His words and humor continue to be important and quoted by Americans today.  This website is one that celebrates his life.  They have a Will Rogers Fly-In, usually in August... it is on the website.

Missing Aircraft Found

February 17 - After searching nine days for a missing Muskogee physician and his small airplane, agencies involved in the search reluctantly decided to suspend it indefinitely on January 24th.  Dr. Jack Nolen was reported overdue Friday, January 14, after a planned flight from Cox Field Airport in Paris, Texas, to Shawnee, Oklahoma.  The hometown news paper reports that a farmer near Holdenville (OK) has found the wreckage of Dr. Nolen's airplane MORE...

Ed Note:  The NTSB website reported 51 fatalities in aircraft accidents in January 2005, compared to 48 in 2004.

Fly-Low Paper Edition Out

January 23 - Our 48th issue of Fly-Low is in FBOs  This one is an interesting issue.  Our front cover is a photo taken at the Tucumcari Air Show in September of 2004.  One shot and the cover is in the bag.  We'll post it at the first of the month.  Look closely at the canopy glass, what do you see?  The airplane in the foreground is the Canadair Tutor Trainer used by the Snowbird Aerobatic Team.  We have a salute to "The Day The Music Died" and our first entry of our swimsuit issue... the bikini is a tight fit... but wait.. you check it out on page 17..

Air Mail (or Letters to the Editor)

January 5 - Yep, we get letters, mostly e-mail.  The story on auto fuel in the December issue brought out the wrath of those that use auto fuel.  We were called "rednecks" and more.  You would have thought we said his mother wore Army boots from the response one read gave.  It was unsigned, therefore, I chuckled and preformed the magic DELETE on it...  We will have a follow up story on auto fuel in the February issue.  I may start carrying a 45 pistol to work if the letters get more violent (smile).  To give you an idea of a couple of the "Point" / "Counterpoint" letters go to HERE.

FAA Says Print Cost Too High

January 3 - As with all good things, they must end.  The official notice pilots have been receiving for years, notifying us of the coming FAA Safety Seminars will halt.  If you want to continue to receive the notifications, they will come via e-mail.  You must go to http://faasafety.gov/  to register and search the FAA website for the events in your area.  The reason given for the switch was the cost of printing
