Lucky's Luck

May 23 - ‘Lucky’ Lou Kepple is just another old guy that hangs out around the airport. VIP Helios Caravan

May 3 - I live in a small town in west central Arkansas.  Nothing ever happens that resembles a parade.  I received word that the airport was to have a gaggle of 5 helicopters at 5 pm today.  My office is on the field, so why not stay and take a few pictures.  To my surprise when the first one taxied to the ramp...  it was the Presidential helicopter... Marine One when he is aboard, but today just N number helicopter.  So Russellville (AR) got the pleasure of refueling all five helicopters for the government.  We got pictures of the entourage of the President.  They were on the way to Oklahoma...  a secret place that the President would be on Saturday... they wouldn't say so, but if you looked at the VIP TFR Location for that day, you would know..  MORE...

Maxwell Air Show Incident

April 12 - Carl Wilcox sent in this photo and information about Wyatt Fuller's F-86 and a MIG 17 performed.  Both planes are perfect examples of 1950's craftsmanship. The MIG landed but Wyatt keep flying.  The announcer said the F-86 of Wyatt Fuller was having landing gear trouble and was going to do a belly landing. He had been flying around trying to unlock the gear with no success. Wyatt came in on two wheels and laid the plane on the right gas tank. It truly showed the skill of a good pilot.  the plane came to rest with very little damage done to it and no injury to Wyatt.  Click on photo to enlarge.
