Field to be Dedicated

May 26 - Cherry Valley (AR) will have a Grand
Opening and ribbon cutting at the new Glider Airport (4AR5) called
Lawrence Field. The event is scheduled for 11:00 AM, June 19,
2004. At this time a commitment from Dennis Wright, Executive
Director of the Soaring Society of America to be there, in addition to a
number of the local politicians. They are expecting confirmation from
Blanche Lincoln U S Senator of Arkansas to also be at the event.
It is expect that 300 people will be in attendance,
perhaps more if the weather is good. After a ceremony and ribbon
cutting, gliders will be demonstrating aero tows and some flying, then a
demonstration of launch of a glider by a winch. Rides will be
available for the general public, weather permitting..
If you fly in, the airfield is 13.6 DME on the Gilmore VOR (113.00) 272
degree radial.
The runway is 3600 X 300 grass strip, not good on a rainy day.
Otherwise it is good for up to a Cessna 210.
