Lawrence Field to be Dedicated

Aerial photo of 4AR5 (Lawrence Field Gliderport)

May 26 - Cherry Valley (AR) will have a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting at the new Glider Airport (4AR5) called Lawrence Field.  The event is scheduled for 11:00 AM, June 19, 2004.  At this time a commitment from Dennis Wright, Executive Director of the Soaring Society of America to be there, in addition to a number of the local politicians. They are expecting confirmation from Blanche Lincoln U S Senator of Arkansas to also be at the event.

It is expect that 300 people will be in attendance, perhaps more if the weather is good.  After a ceremony and ribbon cutting, gliders will be demonstrating aero tows and some flying, then a demonstration of launch of a glider by a winch.  Rides will be available for the general public, weather permitting..

If you fly in, the airfield is 13.6 DME on the Gilmore VOR (113.00) 272 degree radial.
The runway is 3600 X 300 grass strip, not good on a rainy day.  Otherwise it is good for up to a Cessna 210.

Go to Airnav  for information on 4AR5.
