USAF
'Total Force Exhibit' at OSH

May 12 - The United States Air
Force, which has long supported the Experimental Aircraft Association's
annual EAA AirVenture fly-in, will have a big presence with its
20,000-square foot "Total Force Exhibit" at this year's event. EAA
AirVenture 2004 takes place July 27-August 2 at Wittman Regional Airport
in Oshkosh.
The Air Force's exhibit building will be located along the flight line,
just north of the FAA Control Tower. The building will serve host to
several heroes from Operation Iraqi Freedom and the war on terrorism,
who will share their combat experiences and answer questions following
their presentations. USAF air show performers and the crews from USAF
static displays will be at the exhibit as well as on EAA's AeroShell
Square, which is the primary showcase area for major aircraft
participating at EAA AirVenture.
"This exhibit is an outstanding addition to EAA AirVenture," said Tom
Poberezny, EAA President and AirVenture Chairman. "The U.S. Air Force
has always been an outstanding supporter of AirVenture, as it has a
wonderful opportunity to meet the public and discuss its mission and
aircraft. The 'Total Force Exhibit' is perhaps its best presence yet
here at Oshkosh."
Along with exhibits, the Air Force building will have a presentation
area with seating for 150 people featuring aviation heroes past and
present and multi-media AV presentations. Large, water-cooled fans will
provide relief from outdoor heat.
Original Air Force graphic art depicting a dramatic display of USAF's
past and present will cover the exterior walls of the building. Career
Air Force artist DC Nash created the art for the exhibit.
Joining the Air Force in the Total Force Pavilion will be the Women Air
Force Service Pilots (WASPs) and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
Other organizations such as the Tuskegee Airmen and Aztec Eagles will
also be honored by USAF exhibits. These groups will provide speakers and
presentations, giving visitors an opportunity to meet some true heroes
of aviation.
In addition, representatives from the Wisconsin Air National Guard, the
Air Force Reserve Command, ROTC, Junior ROTC, and U.S. Air Force Academy
Liaison offices will be on hand to discuss career opportunities within
USAF. Parents and their children can hear first-hand what the Air Force
has to offer in the way of training, education and careers.
