Argument – Again!
Ohio Rep. Perales will again repudiate Connecticut
State Rep. Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) on Friday, Aug. 18, will present officials of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance (NAHA) with a framed copy of House Concurrent Resolution 8, which repudiated the state of Connecticut’s claim that Gustave Whitehead flew a powered airplane two years before the Wright brothers. Perales sponsored the bill after Connecticut in 2013 passed a law, without citing any evidence, that declared Whitehead as first in flight—a claim Whitehead fans repeated on Monday. Perales will make the presentation on the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, where Wilbur and Orville Wright perfected the airplane, in front of a replica Wright B Flyer. NAHA plans to display the resolution in the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center. Both the flying field and the interpretive center are located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and they are also a unit of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park.
Perales also will read a state resolution in support of National Aviation Day, which is on Aug. 19.
WHAT: Rep. Perales presentation to NAHA
WHERE: Huffman Prairie Flying Field, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. From Ohio 444, enter Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at Gate 16A. Go west on Hebble Creek Road about one-half mile to the meto the Wright B Flyer storage building. (This is a metal storage building, not the wooden Wright Flyer hangar.)
NOTE: In the event of inclement weather, the presentation will take place in the replica Wright Flyer hangar on the prairie. Follow Hebble Creek Road to Pylon Road and turn right onto Pylon.
At this time the Heaven’s Landing Eclipse Luncheon is currently sold out.
We are excited to see everyone on August 21, 2017!
