Someone
Got in a Hurry
The one time I didn’t take the time to identify the cover
airplane photo, I get calls and e-mails wanting to know what
type of plane if is. The October Issue had a beautiful black
1930 Stearman on it and we failed to identify it. The Stearman
W-SC Series is registered to Scott Motor Company of Reno (NV). I
took the photo at Oshkosh 2003. The plane flew in the National
Air Tour during the summer. I am sorry we didn’t take the time
to include all the data on the plane at the time of publication,
but someone got in a hurry, as we often do when deadline nears.
We do appreciate the email and calls about our publication. This
is how we improve. We know we make mistakes and they certainly
aren’t intentional. When we put these thirty-two pages of 15,000
words together with the ads, sometimes we are simply pleased
that we make it by deadline. Our staff works very heard each
month to bring our readers the most up to date information
possible for a monthly publication. There have been month past
when we had computers crashing, fonts not working, and graphics
the computer was unable to locate, but we kept on slugging.
Printed in a Log Cabin
We have one of the best printers possible for any
publication. The Log Cabin Democrat in Conway (AR) printed our
first issue in March of 2001. They helped us clean up our end of
the deal while they have been cleaning up their end. With the
combined learning/cleaning/and general changes, we now have a
publication that pleases me very much. So with the help of Scot,
Deanna, Gary, Bill, Candyce, and the others at the Log Cabin
Democrat, we now put out our 34th issue. My thanks to them for
their continued fine work.
Reflection of Years Past
Start today thinking about your New Year’s Resolution. One
of the best resolutions would be to pull that plane out in the
sunlight and start it rolling. The world is beautiful from
above, one of the best seats in the Universe at your fingertips.
You have to load up and push the throttle forward to make it
happen. It is a gift we can share.
December is a month of reflection. Events from years ago come
forward at this time of year, only to bring a smile. Whether it
is Christmas lights on a distant building bringing back that
vision of forty years ago or the smell of the cedar from that
freshly cut tree, I hope you’re with the one you love this
Holiday Season and that good tidings and much cheer is in your
life. Since this year passed at the speed of light, I feel
compelled to quote my son, “Be wonderful, Life is Now!” |
