Summer is here and along with it we have
the heat, humidity (in some areas), smoke (in the west), haze
(in the east) and a better understanding of density altitude and
daytime IFR with sunlight. Planes love to fly, but in the summer
they get sluggish on climb out. As pilots, this gives us the
opportunity to practice our Weight and Balance and Density
Altitude Calculations. Otherwise, we might discover what ‘low,
slow, and overloaded’ on a hot day can do to your perfect flying
career.
This summer is a great time to go to an air show. Take a
youngster with you. Check our website for the calendar of events
through the remainder of the year. If you would like to add your
event to the calendar, simply e-mail the info to us. AirVenture
is the last of this month. It, of course, is ‘heaven’ for any
aviation enthusiast.

More planes will land at Oshkosh during the event than at any
airport in the world. It is an awesome ‘happening’. For the
world of aviation, Oshkosh in late July is the place to be if
you love flying. If you know of someone who wants to learn to
fly, send in his or her name and phone number this month. They
just might win a FREE INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT. This is a contest
sponsored by Fly-Low Publications and the flight schools listed
in the ad. If you want to get someone involved in aviation, take
him or her flying, especially a kid.
Have a safe and fun-flying summer. |
