EVENTS
CALENDAR
Our events calendar is one of the
most comprehensive on the Internet for our coverage area.
I don’t mind admitting that it has taken hours and hours
of work on my part to accumulate the information and place
it on the site. It is a very comprehensive air events
calendar thanks to the efforts of Wayne Gauldin, a reader
who lives in Janesville (WI). This guy must be considered
the Air Show Guru. He has been very helpful to FLY-LOW by
sending new and sometimes corrected additions to the
FLY-LOW calendar. Thanks Wayne.
COPYRIGHT
RIGHTS
As are most websites, we are
copyrighted. Here is what I feel about the FLY-LOW
copyright. If you, as an individual, want to copy
material from this website and use it personally or to
share with other people (in print or on another website),
I have no problem, as long as you use a disclaimer that
shows the work and product came from
www.fly-low.com. Sharing of aviation is not a crime;
we are in favor of sharing our information with other
sources, even our competition. We don’t charge anyone for
the information. All we ask is a disclaimer that refers
the information product as one of ours.
Now, if you take our product with
plans of making lots of money with it… that is another
situation all together. Then we need to talk before you
use it. I have problems with the attitude that if you use
my story or picture we’ll sue you. We want to share our
information and photos… we only want those who use it to
acknowledge the ownership of the product. A note that you
intend to use it and where is always a nice gesture. So
please use the information you find in FLY-LOW. Share it
with other people… be our guest… help develop an interest
in aviation.
Gray Haired Brigade
It is disappointing to see most of
the pilot association participants and leaders as leaders
are also members of AARP. Just so you’ll know that I am
not casting stones an unfamiliar group, I am in the
group. While discussing this dilemma with a friend the
other evening, it brought home to me the lack of
motivation of those of us in this gray hair brigade. If
we had motivation, we would be bringing the youth into our
meetings and right seat rides. Instead, we become
complacent and just hang with our senior citizen buddies.
What is going to happen when we die? “Who will replace
us?” my friend asks. Who indeed?
If we don’t bring in more youth to
our flying environment, there will be no replacements for
you, captain. No one at all!!! It could be cost that is
keeping the young out, but I think not. I believe it is
the lack of invitations. If we invite the young to share
our wonderful limitless sky, they will enjoy and seek the
ability to share it with others. What is keeping us from
bringing the young to the airport and into the right
seat? COMPLACENCY? Perhaps! Get it together and do more
to provide a teenager a place in the right seat.
